The park is located on a ridge between the north and south lanes of Sprain Brook Parkway in Westchester County. It was acquired by the county in 1965 from the Boyce Thompson Institute, a botanical research center. It houses unusual and exotic woodland plants.

Pool

The long-dry Sprain Ridge pool will be reopened by 2017 after the Westchester County Legislature agreed to finance $8.8 million in renovations to the complex, which has been closed since 2010. Lawmakers pushed back a vote on the financing to allow Legislator Ken Jenkins, a Yonkers Democrat who clashed with the administration over the closure, to attend.

Playground

With a view of New York City, this park is the perfect place for your child to run around and get some fresh air. They can take a stroll down the hill for a view of the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge, while also enjoying fun slides that will have them wanting to come back again and again.

This playground reopened in 2019 after a thoughtful renovation that includes the latest gear for tots and little kids. It features a 3-foot-deep pool in the corner that is ideal for young swimmers, plus a turf field for sports.

For older kids, there are two playgrounds: Adventure Playground, which has a 12-foot suspension bridge and a water wheel zone, and Tarr-Coyne Tots Playground, which has a toddler-sized version of the adventure playground. With a water spray and bucket swings, this playground has everything your kid needs to have an awesome day.

Mountain Biking

Located in Yonkers NY Sprain Ridge Park is home to one of the most impressive mountain biking trails in Westchester County. This 278-acre park has some of the best cross-country and freeride mountain bike trails in the area.

This is an ideal place to test your mountain biking skills in a safe environment. The trail system has several features and amenities, including a large playground, a swimming pool, picnic areas, and a small zoo.

The mountain bike trails here are a blast and are well-suited for riders of all skill levels. Besides the usual suspects, you will also find some gnarly double-track trails that are well worth checking out for the avid mountain biker. The most difficult trails are the ones with the most technical features, such as drops and rollers.
