The Preserve’s 123 acres consist of 18 hiking trails totaling more than 2.5 miles and two managed landscaped areas of over ten acres.
These areas include sweeping lawns and garden plantings of specimen trees and shrubs and a nursery production area. They also feature remnants of the former Gaisman Estate, including a warming hut and a skating pond.
This unique bucolic section of the Preserve features a variety of habitats, including wetlands, streams and forests that support a high diversity of bird species, mammals and reptiles. It has an Important Bird Area designation and is a must-visit destination for birders.
Trails are available for hiking, riding and jogging. Combinations of trails lead through varied landscapes and past natural and historical features, such as Swan Lake, gurgling streams, colonial stone walls and rock outcroppings.
